Aliens, Thermometers, and Roadside Adventures: Our Journey from Vegas to California!

On day 3 of our trip, we were off to California. We rented a car and drove from Vegas to California, which only took about 5 hours. It was one of the best road trips I’ve been on. There are so many neat things to see along the way. We started the trip with some of the best donuts we have ever tried. If you’re heading to LA from Vegas, try Pink Box Donuts; you won’t be disappointed!

Our next stop was at a store called Area 51 Alien Centre, which was packed with anything and everything you could imagine related to aliens. It was the highlight of the road trip. We pulled over next to the World’s Tallest Thermometer just a few miles down the road. This was a comical stop because we realized the drink we bought at the alien store did not have a twist-off cap and needed a bottle opener. Unfortunately, we did not have one with us, so we had to use our imagination. We googled some ideas about opening a bottle without an opener and began trying things. First, the seat belt part that clicks in to the buckle, and that didn’t work. Next, we strategically rolled up a one-dollar bill to make it nice and stiff and made some progress. We heard some hissing from the bottle, but it still couldn’t open. Our last hope was the car keys, and thankfully, with some laughs and strategic movements, the bottle finally popped open. It was definitely a highlight, as these are the moments you don’t forget. The minor inconveniences that happen along the way make everyone laugh and work together to devise a solution to the problem.

We returned to the road, and a few more hours of driving left until we reached Ventura, CA. I wonder what kind of shenanigans we will get into on the remainder of the trip. Stay tuned!
