Exploring Beautiful Washington: Our Easter Weekend in Wenatchee!

We couldn’t be more excited about our first trip across the border since moving to BC. Jeff and I looked at a couple spots we could head to and eventually decided on Wenatchee, Washington. We also planned this trip on Easter weekend, right after Leah’s birthday.

We were on our way and planned to spend 2 nights in Wenatchee before heading home. The border is a 2.5-hour drive from our home, and then it is another 2.5 hours to Wenatchee, so it is a perfect trip for a weekend getaway. The weather was sunny and warm in BC, and it looked like it would also be pretty nice at our planned destination.Wenatchee

We crossed the border, and our first stop was Walmart, where we picked up some snacks for the remainder of the trip. We love checking out their vast selection and always leave so jealous, wishing Canada had even half the choices in our grocery stores. After our pit stop, we were back on the road, and a short while later, we arrived at our weekend destination.

We pulled into the hotel and could tell they must have had quite the snowstorm in the past few days. It was mainly melted except for some lingering piles in parking lots and the mountains behind the city. Only one side, though. You look left, and the hills are grassy, but look right, and they are snow-covered. Seeing how nature can differ so much in one area is always fascinating.

That night, we just toured the city and checked everything out. I went to the mall, Target, and a few other staples we don’t have across the border. That night, we had a nice supper at the Rail Station and Ale House, which was so good. After we ate, we returned to the hotel to relax before we did more exploring the next day.

Day 2, and we woke up to much cooler weather. It was cloudy and chilly, but we didn’t let that stop us from heading out and checking out some scenic views and this super cool forest walk at Ohme Gardens. This was such a fantastic experience. There are so many neat viewpoints and things to see along the walk. Even the girls loved it and usually don’t love walking through the forest. There are paths and chairs made of rocks. The area also has ponds and bridges. If you’re in Wenatchee, I highly recommend making this one of your stops.

After the walk, we found ourselves back at Target, and Leah convinced me to buy her a mug cake. And of course, since we were staying in a hotel, I also had to buy a mug, haha, but she was happy! The girls went for a swim at the hotel before bed, and then we relaxed and enjoyed our last night there.

Morning came, and It was time to start heading home. We had complimentary breakfast, and the hotel had an easter egg hunt for the little kids as it was easter morning. I packed a few treats for the girls in the hotel that morning!

On our way home, we found a few places to stop and check out, including the small town of Chelan. The lake was gorgeous, and it is somewhere we will consider checking out in the future. We arrived back in Canada a short while later and then home. What a great little weekend getaway. I love living so close to the border.
